Position OverviewAs a Special Education Paraprofessional, you will be a vital member of our superhero team, assisting our special education teachers and supporting students with diverse needs. Your mission will be to provide individualized support, helping students engage with their curriculum, develop essential skills, and achieve their personal and academic goals. Your compassion and dedication will be the superpowers that help our students soar!
Key Responsibilities- Student Support: Provide one-on-one and small group assistance to students with special needs, ensuring they understand their assignments and can fully participate in classroom adventures.
- Classroom Assistance: Team up with the classroom teacher to prepare lessons, manage the classroom, and adapt instructional materials to meet the unique needs of our superhero students.
- Behavioral Support: Use your powers of empathy and understanding to assist with behavioral and emotional support, implementing individualized strategies to promote positive interactions.
- Communication: Maintain open and effective lines of communication with students, teachers, and parents, providing updates on student progress and addressing any challenges that arise.
- Documentation: Help track and document student progress, keeping records of their heroic achievements and areas for growth.
- Collaboration: Join forces with special education staff and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and contribute to ongoing assessments.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate's degree or higher in education, psychology, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is highly desirable, especially with special education.
- Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with patience and empathy, are essential. You should be ready to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.
- Certification: Paraprofessional certification or a willingness to obtain certification as required by local/state regulations.
