Compensation: $70,000 - $73,000 per year.

Job Summary

The Instructional Designer is responsible for the design, development, and deployment of all training content within the Ace Handyman franchise network, ensuring well‑designed, high‑quality online, classroom, and virtual training that engages adult learners.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop comprehensive training programs for franchise owners, office staff, and field technicians.
  • Produce high‑quality e‑learning modules, "how‑to" video scripts, technical manuals, and instructor‑led training materials.
  • Collaborate with franchise owners, office and field staff to capture best demonstrated practices in training content.
  • Manage stakeholder feedback, approvals, and maintain content integrity throughout development.
  • Upload, track, and maintain content within the Learning Management System to ensure nationwide consistency and report training results.
  • Develop assessments and feedback loops to measure training effectiveness and time‑to‑competency for new hires.
  • Be a supportive team player, providing assistance to stakeholders, colleagues, and partners in learning at all times.
  • Actively participate in system migration and upgrade projects, collaborating and executing critical tasks.
  • Travel up to 25% monthly for conferences and team meetings (if required).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Adult Education or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of instructional or curriculum design experience (previously titled Instructional Designer or Curriculum Designer).
  • 4+ years of experience using a Learning Management System.
  • 2+ years of experience with course authoring tools (Articulate, Adobe, PowerPoint, Camtasia, etc.).
  • 2+ years of experience in database management and reporting tools.
  • Certification in Instructional Design or Curriculum Development from ATD, CRI, or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of ADDIE or SAM design models.
  • Experience with Cornerstone LMS is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Teams, and Office 365 Suite.
  • Excellent collaborative communication, critical thinking, multi‑tasking, analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • "Whatever it takes" attitude, adaptable to a growing franchise system and evolving service path & work environment.
  • Working knowledge of franchise principles and business operations is a plus.
  • High‑quality producer in autonomous working situations, self‑motivator.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% monthly.
