A Learning Specialist teacher collaborates with the Special Education teacher and team to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills. Key duties include:

• Implement the District’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and mental health counselors to develop an integrated plan for students.
• Attend required Special Education training and meetings.
• Update parents on student progress and enlist parental support for behavior control and home activities.
• Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that foster active learning. Provide written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Perform limited clerical functions related to instruction, such as preparing materials, maintaining records, and communicating with parents.
• Prepare lessons and teach students individually, in small groups, or through co‑teaching with classroom teachers, and communicate with staff to suggest improvements.
• Prepare the classroom for instruction.
• Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated locations and times.
• Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for educational activities.
• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.

Required

• Hold or be eligible to hold a Colorado Teaching License.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
• Experience teaching subjects based on the Colorado Academic Standards.
• Strong background in instruction and intervention with an interest in experiential learning.
• Strong collaboration skills with teachers.
• Ability to differentiate instruction for students below or above grade level.
• Strong decision‑making, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Preferred

• Previous secondary teaching experience.
• Experience working with a diverse student population.
• Technology skills in Apple Technology, Student Information Systems, and Google Applications for Education.
