The Center for Faculty Development & Advancement (CFDA) is seeking a visionary Associate Director (AD) who is passionate about empowering faculty and shaping the future of academic life at CU Denver. This is an exciting opportunity for a campus leader who thrives on building community, designing innovative development experiences, and helping colleagues unleash their full potential. In this role, you will directly influence the faculty experience—strengthening pathways for growth, fostering belonging, and creating the kind of campus environment where faculty excel, connect, and thrive.
Working closely with the Director, the AD will co-create impactful initiatives for faculty across the Denver campus. Key areas of focus include developing tailored mentorship programs, building professional learning—especially for IRC faculty—and supporting the Center's core programming.
Associate Director, CFDA
What you will do:
- Collaborating with the Director to plan strategic programming, services, and initiatives, with particular attention to IRC faculty's career advancement and professional development needs.
- Designing and facilitating mentorship programs (individual, peer, group) for faculty at all ranks as well as developing programs to support mentors for inclusive and effective mentoring practices.
- Supporting faculty as they prepare for rank advancement.
- Engaging across campus to elevate CFDA's visibility and strengthen partnerships.
- Leading innovative efforts to strengthen community, belonging, and engagement among faculty.
- Work with the Director to manage the CFDA grant programs.
- Identifying opportunities for improved practices and implementing solutions that strengthen departmental and campus-wide faculty development.
- Assessing faculty needs using research-informed data collection methods.
- Working with faculty groups and academic leaders to design tailored professional development programs for faculty.
- Consulting with faculty on professional, scholarly, and career development goals.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications) Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- Current rostered University of Colorado Denver faculty member.
- Terminal degree in any discipline from an accredited institution.
- At least three (3) years of rostered faculty experience at CU Denver.
Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience designing and delivering professional learning opportunities.
- Expertise in evidence-based and innovative approaches to faculty development.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships across all campus levels.
- Strong knowledge of CU Denver faculty policies and practices.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Strategic, innovative thinker responsive to faculty needs.

- Knowledge of best practices in faculty mentoring and development.
- Strong understanding of promotion and/or tenure processes.
- Leadership experience and the ability to launch new initiatives and solve problems creatively and efficiently.
- Demonstrated mentoring skills and enthusiasm for supporting others' growth.
- Ability to write, present, lead discussions, and provide one-on-one consultations effectively.
