Academy Academic Advisor Intern

OverviewThe Colorado Rapids Academy Academy Academic Advisor Intern will support the Academy Head of School in providing academic support to approximately 60 high‑school‑aged academy players. The core curriculum will be delivered via an online school platform. The intern will monitor academic activities, assist with extra‑curricular sessions, and support the Head of School in implementing school policies and ensuring students progress toward high‑school graduation and NCAA eligibility.
Responsibilities- Support the Head of School with student online school platform enrollment.
- Supervise and monitor students during the school block.
- Advise & monitor students’ progress and grades through online school.
- Record players’ attendance and absence.
- Conduct weekly student check‑in sessions.
- Support Head of School in implementing school policies and processes.
- Assist in creating and facilitating extra‑curricular workshops and activities.
- Support student progress toward high‑school graduation & NCAA eligibility.
- Liaise with coaching staff to ensure athletic, academic & holistic growth of the student.
- Typical office conditions.
- Lift 50 lbs. daily.
- Work in extreme weather conditions.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Education, High School Counseling, or a related field
. - Teaching experience.
- Familiarity with NCAA eligibility requirements
, high‑school graduation requirements, and post‑secondary academic pathways (college, trade school, professional). - Willingness to work non‑traditional hours, including rare evenings and weekends, to align with academy training and competition schedule.
- Passion for the sport and interest in contributing to a high‑performance environment that integrates academic and athletic development.
- High school teaching experience.
- Expertise in a subject area (e.g., Math, Language Arts).
- Proficiency in Spanish.
- Ability to acquire or maintain a valid driver’s license and meet company vehicle driving standards.
- Demonstrated ability to advise & inspire students in classroom and remote settings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Organizational and personnel management.
- Knowledge regarding academic curricula and academic advice.
- Ability to create spreadsheets and routine business correspondence using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated professionalism and a positive attitude.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to complete work accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently and in a group setting, demonstrating good judgment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multi‑task, prioritize, and adapt to changing environments.
- Base hourly rate of $19.29 per hour.
- 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Tuesday‑Friday. Hours may vary slightly depending on Academy needs.
