The Head Athletic Coach is responsible for the overall training and development, both athletically and personally, of athletes in their particular discipline and team to which they are assigned.
Duties & Responsibilities- Plan practices and coach games.
- Attend all practices and games.
- Accompany and/or drive the athletic team on a school vehicle to and from athletic events.
- Report all injuries and follow the procedure for reporting injuries.
- Teach the philosophy, fundamentals, techniques and style of play as prescribed.
- Perform proper athletic training, first aid, and safety as required.
- Communicate as necessary with athletes and their families via the dedicated school portal.
- Practice acceptable personal conduct before, during and after games and practices.
- Remain familiar with, and adhere to, rules and regulations of the sport coached based on the appropriate school and sport affiliations.
- Support the total athletic program.
- Help to develop the coaching abilities and performance of assistant coach(s).
- Supervise assistant coach(s) of the discipline in conjunction with the Athletic Director.
- Assist in the evaluation of assistant coach(s) in conjunction with the Athletic Director.
- Comply with all other duties as requested by the Athletic Director.
- Show willingness and ability to transport students in an ISDenver non‑CDL vehicle as needed.
- English proficiency with excellent verbal and written communication skills (Level B2 required, C1+ preferred or equivalent certification such as TOEFL or IELTS).
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.
- Eagerness to engage with co‑curricular, extra‑curricular, school community, and PTO activities that promote the school’s programs and reputation.
- Lived experience in multicultural settings, including international work experience, and an appreciation and respect for all cultures.
- Collaborative, team‑oriented, globally‑and open‑minded, innovative, and compassionate.
- Professionalism, punctuality, reliability, and an ability to exercise sound judgment and analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Technological and computer competency (Google Suite, database management, etc.).
- Strong moral character.
- Prior successful leadership/coaching experience preferred.
- Robust knowledge of the rules, strategy and regulations of the sport to be coached.
- CPR/AED/First Aid certified (or willingness to get).
- Concussion Training (or willingness to get).
- Mandatory Reporter Training (or willingness to get).
- Standard Precautions Training (or willingness to get).
- Clean driving record/copy of MVR, ISDenver vehicle training certification (or willingness to get) for non‑CDL vehicles.
- A verified Colorado Coaching License may be able to replace certain training listed above (not including the driving component).
