Position Summary
Part‑time affiliate faculty teaching positions in the Department of Journalism and Media Production at Metropolitan State University of Denver.
Responsibilities- Teach 3–9 credit hours in courses such as Broadcast Journalism, Journalism, Public Relations, Introduction to Journalism and Mass Media, Journalism Fundamentals, Reporting, Fundamentals of Public Relations, Beginning Photojournalism, Beginning Layout and Design, and other related courses at the 1000‑level or above.
- Deliver course content in person or online, including preparing lesson plans, grading student work, and providing timely, robust feedback.
- Consult with students, address questions, and provide academic support as needed.
- Provide instruction consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and department course coordination policies.
- Comply with university‑wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.
- Adapt to new modes of instruction and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or a related field, plus at least six years of professional, full‑time experience in journalism.
- Master’s degree in Journalism or a related field plus at least six years of professional, full‑time experience in journalism.
- Doctorate in Journalism or a related field.
Affiliate faculty are part‑time, at‑will employees hired on a per‑credit‑hour basis, typically semester‑by‑semester. Employment is dependent on budget and enrollment; eligibility for the university’s benefit program is not provided. All assignments are expected to be taught in person/on campus upon hire.
SalaryRate per credit hour ranges from $1,264 to $1,482, according to university policy.
