The Sturm College of Law Advancement Office focuses on alumni relations and fundraising for priority areas around scholarship support, programmatic initiatives, and faculty practice. We are creating a robust advancement model within the college to meet all the needs of our donors and alumni at every level and are implementing systems and processes designed to achieve the goals and desired outcomes for our students, faculty, and staff.
Position Summary:The student hourly employee will assist in projects specified by the Director of Development, Annual Giving and the Senior Director of Alumni Engagement for the Sturm College of Law. Projects will include managing assigned research projects, entering information into our database system Pio Sphere, assisting with event planning, research on potential donors and alumni, social media posts, and other similar duties as requested.
This is a great opportunity for a student interested in learning about fundraising at the ground level. You’ll learn the essential functions of a development office: the language, the processes, who gives and why.
Essential Functions:- Oversee data intensive research projects
- Manage organized records of research for input
- Update communication lists and alumni involvement activities
- Assist in event planning logistics
- Create social media content and graphics
- Utilize DU software platforms
- Current DU undergraduate or graduate student enrolled for the academic year, located in the Denver area.
This position will report to the Director of Development, Annual Giving and will have regular 1:1 meetings to update progress on projects and assign new work as needed. Trainings for DU specific platforms will also be utilized.
Comp and Benefits:This position is eligible for a federal work-study, which requires eligibility through the Financial Aid Office. This position is also open to non-work study funded students. Students will be paid $19.50/hr this position requires 15-20 hours per week with flexibility in scheduling. In compliance with Colorado’s Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA), non-benefited employees accrue one hour of paid leave for every 30 hours worked up to a maximum of 48 hours per year.
Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience with Microsoft Suite
- Experience with Pio Sphere (preferred)
- Experience with Canva (preferred)
- Experience with Asana
- Ability to follow clear directions.
- Willingness to take initiative and ask questions.
