Special Education Teacher

Overview

Well Power envisions a community where mental health is fostered through strength, resilience and hope. This role provides appropriate educational services to children with emotional disorders in a day treatment classroom setting.

The posted range represents the full hiring range. Offers will not exceed this range; the majority of candidates are placed near the midpoint based on experience and qualifications.

Dahlia Campus is a partnership with Well Power and Northeast Park Hill community. We serve families and individuals and provide whole person care.

• Assess children’s educational, social, and life skills competencies.
• Develop individualized daily lesson plans based on the child’s IEP and the Denver Public School approved curriculum.
• Provide one‑on‑one or small group instruction.
• Keep records of student progress.
• Work with the treatment team in developing treatment plans.
• Collaborate with sending and receiving school districts on IEP and transition plans.
• Meet all requirements for teacher certification.
• Oversee classroom environment including paraprofessionals and counselors.
• Maintain a trauma informed environment of wellbeing.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Current Colorado License in Special Education, Highly Qualified or Highly Qualified Eligible in Elementary Education.
• TCI or other relevant certification preferred.
• Letter of Recommendation.
• Physical and TB screening.
• QMAP, CPR and First Aid Certifications within first 60 days.
• One year of experience as a Special Education Teacher.
• Experience working with severely mentally ill children preferred.
• Experience in Affective Needs Classroom or Milieu preferred.
• Ability to work with culturally diverse population.
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary team.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Good organizational and administrative skills.

Monday‑Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.

Sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 30 lb. Manual dexterity required for standard office and clinical equipment.
