Teacher Assistant/ Paraprofessional, Elementary School, Special Education Teacher

The Associate Teacher works in-person with a Lead Teacher in a mixed-age classroom.
OverallResponsibilities Include:
Partner with the Lead Teacher to design and implement engaging, student-centered learning experiences that support students’ academic, social, and emotional growth.
Support individualized, interdisciplinary units of study that integrate reading, writing, math, and other core academic areas.
Lead or assist with small-group instruction, including reading groups, writing workshops, and math lessons.
Provide one-on-one guidance to help students plan, manage, and complete their weekly learning goals and projects.
Offer meaningful feedback on student work, including journals, reflections, and written assignments.
Monitor and document student progress to support assessment, reflection, and communication with the Lead Teacher.
Help maintain a positive, structured classroom environment and assume classroom leadership when needed.
Participate fully in the life of the school, including family conferences, staff meetings, school events, and student supervision during lunch, recess, and experiential learning trips. These events can take place on nights and weekends.
Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Experience, Skills, & Abilities:- Bachelor's degree required
Experience in teaching or a related field (summer camp, etc.)
Lifelong learner, flexible thinker
Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail
Computer literacy and comfort using Google Suite
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
Valid driver’s license
Willingness and ability to go on overnight field trips with students
Willingness and ability to drive school vehicles while supervising students
Attend all-staff meetings, pre-service and other professional days and school-wide events
Complete mandatory trainings, such as those for child safety, first-aid, etc.
Hours: The Logan School workday is 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Attendance is required at all-staff meetings, held at least once per week, until 5:00 pm. There will be occasional evening and weekend commitments that require attendance.
Compensation:
The salary (paid in equal 12-month installments) for this position is $40,000 - $45,000, depending on experience, for a 10-month work period. This will be prorated over 12 months for the school year, based on the start date.
