Lecturer of Screenwriting

University of Colorado Denver – College of Arts & Media (CAM)

Lecturer (part‑time). FTE: 0.225 per 3‑credit course. Salary: $5,371.19 per 3‑credit course.

May 12, 2026. Position remains open for up to 6 months.

Responsibilities
  • Teach one or two screenwriting courses per semester (3‑6 credit hours). Focus on fiction, non‑fiction, and/or episodic television.
  • Guide students through real‑world projects, developing technical and artistic skills.
  • Mentor aspiring professionals and contribute to a collaborative faculty culture.
  • Support the growth and innovation of the BFA in Film and Television program.
Minimum Qualifications
  • MFA or BA in screenwriting or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional screenwriting experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching screenwriting experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MFA in screenwriting.
  • More than 3 years of professional screenwriting experience.
  • Experience teaching screenwriting at the college level.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of screenwriting for fiction, non‑fiction, and/or episodic television.
  • Ability to mentor and inspire students in a dynamic learning environment.
  • Ability to contribute to a collaborative faculty culture.
  • Capacity to help shape the future of a growing program.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and creative problem‑solving skills.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary range is $5,371.19 per 3‑credit course. Position is not eligible for overtime or benefits.
