Position Summary
The Department of Biology at Metropolitan State University of Denver invites applications for part‑time affiliate faculty teaching positions. This listing is for potential future affiliate faculty needs to teach specific Biology courses. Screening will occur when course sections need to be filled.
Responsibilities- Teach courses such as Human Biology for Non‑Majors (BIO 1000), General Biology Lecture and/or Laboratory (BIO 1080, 1090, 1081, 1091), Human Anatomy and Physiology (BIO 2310 and 2320), General Microbiology (BIO 2400), General Genetics (BIO 3600), and other upper‑division Biology courses as needed.
- Deliver course content in person or online, prepare materials and lesson plans, grade student work, provide timely feedback, and attend to student questions in accordance with university policies.
- Provide academic support to students as appropriate for the teaching assignment and adhere to student evaluation and peer observation policies.
- Adapt to new modes of instruction and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
Required: Master’s degree in Biology or a related field.
Preferred: Doctorate in Biology or a related field; relevant teaching experience.
Terms of EmploymentAffiliate faculty are part‑time, at‑will employees hired to teach on a per‑credit‑hour basis for specific classes, typically on a semester‑by‑semester basis. They are not eligible for benefit coverage under the University’s benefit program and are hired on the basis of budget and enrollment.
SalaryPay per credit hour ranges from $1264 to $1482, based on university policy. Rates are set under College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences Affiliate‑Rates‑AY‑25‑26.
