SAMMY'S BUDDY PROGRAM ACTIVITY COORDINATOR

The Activity Coordinator will create and facilitate educational and community activities, events and opportunities for students with and without disabilities. They will work in partnership with the Executive Director, lead teachers, volunteers, community partners, and school administrators to ensure the impact and effectiveness of the program. They will manage logistical details inclusive of scheduling, communication and follow up for all Sammy's Buddy Program initiatives.

Program Initiative Responsibilities:

  • Oversees program operations and the implementation of initiatives for participating schools
  • Attends and supports buddy activities in participating schools.
  • Communicates regularly and consistently with lead teachers to provide them with information, answer ongoing questions and ensure that timelines and deadlines are met
  • Consistent and ongoing communication with lead teachers, including annual planning, initiative updates, event details, post activity surveys, and annual debrief.
  • Provides resources, tools, and supplies so schools can seamlessly execute activities.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Attends (virtual or in person) weekly meeting with ED to provide feedback and discussions about classroom activities and planning, school and guest speaker scheduling
  • Assists with school recruitment and onboarding for new schools
  • Fosters and manages relationships with returning schools.
  • Assists with gathering data for analyzing impact of programs through surveys, qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Assists with creation of bi-annual newsletter.
  • Attends bi-annual board meetings and other strategic planning or action planning sessions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the program.

Community Partnerships Responsibilities:

  • Maintains and expands existing community partnerships for program activities
  • Explores and secures opportunities for new partnerships

Qualifications:

  • High School Degree required, Bachelor's degree in education or social science preferred
  • Exceptional leadership skills and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with school colleagues
  • A history working with or personal experience with individuals with disabilities and or under-resourced communities
  • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus
  • Must have own transportation, mileage reimbursed

Job Type:

Part-time, contract, hourly

August through May, typically:

  • Monday – Friday activities occur between hours of 7am-4pm
  • Approx. 10 hours/week

June and July, flexible schedule, up to 10 hours/month

Occasional, but very infrequent, weekend and evening responsibilities
