ELA-S Language Arts Secondary Teacher

Salary: $59,666 per year plus standard benefits.

Follow DPS curriculum to instruct students. Provide instruction to linguistically diverse students in English and Spanish. Teach appropriate grade level standards‑based curriculum. Follow DPS Literacy Program and/or other school/district approved curriculum. Utilize knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices including small group instruction to teach assigned courses. Demonstrate familiarity and adherence to the District’s Mission and Goals. Administer the Language Assessment Scale (LAS) test to English language learners.

Complete, maintain, and submit accurate records, forms and reports punctually, as required. Coordinate activities with the classroom paraprofessional, including daily planning and evaluation of student’s needs and progress. Work with diverse student population and staff. Attend and participate in required preservice and staff development meetings. Conduct required parent‑teacher meetings. Speaking Spanish is inherent to the position.

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in any field. Must possess a valid Colorado Department of Education Teacher’s License with appropriate endorsement in English Language Arts (6/7-12) or Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (K-12), or ability to obtain. Ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish.
