Position Summary
Custer County School District is seeking an exceptional educational leader to serve as Elementary Principal for our small, rural school community. We are looking for a student-centered leader who values strong relationships, high expectations, collaboration, and a commitment to academic excellence.
The successful candidate will lead a school environment where students are known, supported, and encouraged to achieve their full potential. In our close-knit district, the principal plays an important role not only in the school but also in the broader community by building meaningful relationships with students, staff, families, and community partners.
- Provide leadership and direction for all elementary school operations and instructional programs
- Foster a positive school culture focused on student achievement, safety, and well-being
- Support and evaluate teachers and staff to promote professional growth and instructional excellence
- Analyze student performance data to guide school improvement efforts
- Collaborate with teachers to ensure effective curriculum implementation and instructional practices
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with families and community members
- Manage student discipline and implement positive behavior supports
- Assist in the development and oversight of school budgets and resources
- Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal regulations
- Support extracurricular activities and participate in school and community events
Required:
- Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field
- Valid administrative licensure/certification as required by CDE or the ability to obtain licensure through the alternative pathway
- Successful teaching experience
- Demonstrated leadership experience in an educational setting
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
- Experience as a school administrator
- Experience in a rural school setting
- Knowledge of instructional best practices and data-driven decision making
- Experience building strong community and family partnerships

Minimum $71,500 based on education and experience
