Subject Matter Expert

The Subject Matter Expert (SME) provides authoritative space-domain expertise across the CGC learning objectives, ensuring the technical accuracy and currency of the content and translating complex space concepts for non-technical adult learners. Supports content review and validation throughout the period of performance.

• Supply subject-matter content and review aligned to the Course/Terminal/Enabling Learning Objectives (CLO/TLO/ELO) across knowledge areas.
• Ensure technical accuracy so tools and concepts taught reflect current field practice (supports the Quality Control Plan technical-accuracy review).
• Advise on the global space ecosystem, space sustainability (debris mitigation, STM), national/international space programs, space economies/commercialization, space history, and orbital regimes/assets.
• Collaborate with ISD and multimedia staff to render complex material into pedagogically sound learning experiences.

• Master's degree in Space Studies, Space Policy, Space Ecosystems, or a related field, or eight (8) years of relevant space-domain experience aligned with the course objectives.
• Demonstrated expertise across the space-domain topics above.

• Ph.D. or terminal degree in a space-related topic; national/international recognition as a thought leader (published research, invited talks, advisory roles).
• Expertise in andragogy, curriculum development, and educational technology; 3+ years designing online learning for adult/professional audiences.

Personnel must be U.S. citizens and eligible for a favorable National Agency Check (minimum) and a DoD CAC / Tier 1 (NACI) as needed.

• Must be able to pass government background investigation.
