Position SummaryThe Ameri Corps member will serve as part of the Education Department at the museum, working directly under the supervision of the Education Coordinator. The primary focus is to support and deliver high‑impact educational programming to K‑12 students, emphasizing equitable access to culturally relevant history education. The member will facilitate Hands‑on History programs, field trips, and other student‑focused educational experiences, and may assist with community events, adult educational programming, and outreach initiatives.
Termsof Service
- Serve at the History Colorado Center.
- Complete a minimum of 900 service hours throughout the term (average 10–15 hours per week during the school year and 40 hours per week during school breaks).
- Availability required 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Supervised by the Education Coordinator with additional oversight from the Program Manager.
- Service term:
September 8 2026 – August 20 2027. - Mandatory orientation on September 8 and 9 2026 at the History Colorado Museum in Denver.
- September 28 2026 – Required attendance for School Programs Orientation.
- September 30 2026 – May 21 2027: 10–15 hours per week.
- December 28–31 2026: 32 hours.
- March 29–April 2 2027: 40 hours.
- Summer Camps June–August 2027: 40 hours per week (1 full week of training + 8 weeks of camp).
- 1 week holiday around July 4 (TBD).
- Facilitate Hands‑On History out‑of‑school camp programming, school year field trips, and other educational activities, delivering culturally relevant content aligned to academic standards.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to continuous improvement of educational programming.
- Support curriculum development and manage educational resources to ensure successful delivery of history lessons.
- Living allowance up to $18,000 (pre‑tax), distributed biweekly.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident.
- Ability to pass criminal history checks.
- Strong interest in history, education, or related field.
- At least three (3) months of full‑time or equivalent part‑time experience working with school‑age children ages 5‑18 (455 hours).
