Community Language Course Instructors
The Center for World Languages and Cultures (CWLC) promotes engaged learning, teaching, and practice of the world's languages and cultures; integrates languages and cultures into all disciplines and fields of study; and builds and supports interculturally competent communities through the exploration and experience of languages and cultures at the University of Denver with its local and global communities and partners. The CWLC is part of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS), the University's largest unit.
The CWLC at the University of Denver seeks to hire instructors for Japanese, Korean, and Portuguese community language courses during the academic year of 2026/2027. These non-credit language courses will expand the current Community Language Courses Portfolio offerings.
Instructors will teach 1 to 2 courses per session based on needs: one course at the novice level and one for learners with more experience. Instructors could teach up to 6 classes per academic year (2 each session). Typical enrollment ranges between 3 and 15 students per class. The ideal candidate demonstrates experience in teaching adult learners, and proficiency in communicative, task-based teaching methods.
Job requirements for Community Language Classes include teaching a 10-week course on Zoom of one weekly session of 90 minutes, communicating with learners via the learning management system Canvas and email, and preparing activities that promote interpersonal communication among the learners.

- 1-2 years of previous teaching experience, especially with adult learners.
- Evidence of a commitment to incorporate teaching methods to engage diverse student populations effectively.
- Evidence of teaching using task-based, communicative methodologies which prioritize student-student interactions.
- Experience or willingness to learn course management systems such as Canvas.
- Availability to teach online while residing in Colorado.
10-week sessions with 90-minute classes held after 4 pm, either on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.
For consideration, please submit application materials by 4:00PM (MST) July 24th, 2026.
The standard pay for Community Language Courses can range between $900 and $2,550 depending on course enrollment.
