Early Childhood Education Affiliate Instructor

Position Summary

Department of Special Education, Early Childhood Education, and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education at Metropolitan State University of Denver invites applications for part‑time affiliate faculty teaching positions.

• Teach no more than 9 credit hours per semester.
• Prepare, deliver, and assess course content in areas including foundation courses, developmentally appropriate practice courses, multicultural courses, literacy, science, social studies, mathematics methods courses, assessment courses, and classroom management courses.
• Deliver instruction in person or online, prepare lesson plans, and grade student work.
• Provide timely, robust feedback and support to students, addressing questions in accordance with university, college/school, and department policies.
• Consult with students before and after class as needed.
• Participate in peer observation and comply with student evaluation of instruction policies.
• Adapt to new modes of instruction and meet the educational needs of a diverse student population.

• Master’s degree required.
• Doctoral degree or ABD status preferred.

Affiliate faculty are part‑time, at‑will employees hired on a per credit hour basis for specific classes, usually on a semester‑by‑semester basis. They are not eligible for benefit coverage under the University’s benefit program. Affiliates are expected to teach in person/on campus upon hire. Salary is based on the number of credit hours assigned at a rate of $1,264–$1,482 per credit hour, set by university policy.
