The Public Safety and Legal Services Department is committed to student‑centered teaching that fosters personal and academic success of our students. The paralegal program prepares students for navigating the field of law by developing research, analytical and writing skills through coursework, capstone and/or internship experiences. The ideal Paralegal Adjunct Instructor will possess academic and practical expertise in Colorado Family Law, specifically Negotiation, Settlement and Mediation skills, and will have a strong interest in guiding student learning, success, and mentorship.

• The Adjunct Instructor for Paralegal studies is responsible for teaching part‑time within the program. Teaching modalities may include in‑person, online, concurrent enrollment, or non‑credit depending on course maps and scheduling needs.

• Instruct assigned classes and deliver content consistent with CCCS, CCD, CTE and department policies. Course content must adhere to the learning objectives of the course syllabus and departmental policies.

• Be available via in‑person, remote conferencing, or phone to provide students with timely academic support.

• Engage with students regarding course materials, assignments, and assessment through work‑based learning.

• Create case studies and fact patterns for practice negotiations, design assignments in accordance with required course learning outcomes.

• Possess CO residency to teach on the downtown Denver campus and attend meetings or industry partnership events as needed.

• Demonstrate a sense of connection and responsibility for helping the College achieve success through a commitment to its vision and mission.
• Create learning opportunities for students inside and outside of the classroom.
• Establish an inclusive environment in the classroom through management and proactive problem identification.
• Participate in course assessment and updates to ensure excellence in student learning outcomes.
• Strive for teaching excellence by applying best practices and modeling behaviors that encourage student success and retention.
• Possess familiarity or willingness to become familiar with course‑room technologies.
• Commitment to professional growth, student support, appropriate use of technology and new developments in the field.
• Willingness to be available to teach in person or online.

Paralegal courses are Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses. Faculty and instructors must have a CCD CTE credential to teach in the field. The following are the minimum requirements to teach: PAR 1115, PAR 1116, PAR 1117, PAR 1118, PAR 1125, PAR 1126, PAR 2080, PAR 2089, PAR 2201, PAR 2202, PAR 2205, PAR 2206, PAR 2208, PAR 2209, PAR 2210, PAR 2211, PAR 2212, PAR 2216, PAR 2217, PAR 2218, PAR 2220, PAR 2227, Advanced Ethics for LLP, Advanced Family Law for LLP.

Any of the following degrees are appropriate: a Juris Doctorate in the Law or Master of Law with 2,000 verified occupational/industry hours within the last 5 years.
