ELA-S Teacher
Job DescriptionHelps the class teacher with classroom activities and provides teaching support to the students.
About this job:
One (1) year position only. This is a temporary position. Operates as a lead teacher for up to 51% of the day, teaching appropriate grade level standards to diverse students, following school-based curriculum expectations. Establishes and communicates clear objectives to students for lessons, units, and projects; presents subject matter to students, individually and in groups, using various teaching methods and technology and adjusting teaching style and method to meet student learning style.
Spends additional time operating as a teacher resident, participating in learning experiences to help growth and development. Operates as a learner committed to increasing effectiveness as an instructional leader in the classroom. May participate in extra-duty activities such as coaching, tutoring, or summer programs, as outlined in the Teachers' Collective Bargaining Agreement and in accordance with Department of Labor regulations.
What You'll Need:
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Education or related field required.
- A Master's Degree is only required for Concurrent Enrollment positions.
- Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license. for additional information regarding specific requirements and qualifications for the various subject areas (DPS does accept a CDE Application Receipt for 90 days.)
- ELA-S (English Language Acquisition
- Spanish) ONLY - Teaching in both Spanish and English positions, candidates are required to take the Spanish language proficiency (SLP) exam, proctored by Berlitz Testing. Click here for more information. Additionally, if a teacher has taken, or chooses to take, the Praxis II
- Spanish:
World Language 5195 exam, it will also work at DPS as an appropriate SLP exam, as long as the candidate scores 163 or higher on the Praxis II (#5195) exam.
