Special Education Teacher (Mild/Moderate) — Rocky Mountain Prep

Location: Rocky Mountain Prep

Start Date: August 18, 2026

Contract Length: 36 Weeks

Schedule: 37.5 Hours per Week

Position Overview

The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides high-quality educational services to students receiving special education support in grades K-12. This role is responsible for developing and implementing individualized educational programs while collaborating with general education staff, families, and support personnel to ensure student success.

The ideal candidate is passionate about inclusive education, data-driven instruction, and building strong relationships with students and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with IDEA timelines and requirements.

  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and create, monitor, and revise Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).

  • Maintain accurate documentation and progress-monitoring records.

  • Provide individualized instruction through:

  • Push-in co-teaching within classrooms of approximately 28–32 students.

  • Pull-out small‑group instruction, typically serving 6–8 students.

  • Implement research‑based intervention programs, including:

  • Lexia Core5

  • RAP 95

  • PLL

  • Zearn

  • Align specialized instruction with general education curricula such as Bridges and Amplify.

  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure accommodations, modifications, and behavior supports are delivered effectively.

  • Coach and support paraprofessionals providing academic, behavioral, and adaptive interventions.

  • Foster culturally responsive relationships with students and families through consistent communication and collaboration.

  • Participate in planning and implementation of student programs, including special instruction, tutorial support, and consultation with educational teams.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

  • Valid state teaching certificate as required by state and district regulations.

  • Minimum one (1) year of teaching experience preferred.

  • State Teacher Certification preferred in one or more of the following:

  • Standard Elementary Teaching

  • Standard Secondary Teaching

  • Standard Special Teaching

  • Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) endorsement preferred.

  • Meets all applicable professional standards of practice.

  • Current CPR certification, if required.

  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray, if required.

  • Current health certificate, if required by contract or state regulation.

  • Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Interview Process

  • Initial phone interview with the HR Coordinator.

  • Final interview with the school site leadership team.

Compensation

Local Special Education Teacher

  • Pay Rate: $48.00/hour

Travel Special Education Teacher

  • Pay Rate: $30.00/hour

  • Housing Stipend: $700/week

  • Meals & Incidentals Stipend: $300/week

  • Estimated Weekly Pay Package: $2,125.00
