Affiliate Faculty Position

The School of Hospitality at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for temporary, part-time affiliate faculty teaching positions.

Responsibilities include teaching 3+ credit hours in subject areas such as Wine Fundamentals, Beer and Spirits, Enology:
The Making of Wine, Wines of the Old World, Wines of the New World, Wine and Food Pairing. The faculty member will work and interact with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff, demonstrate ability to effectively infuse technology into coursework, and be available for consultation with students.

An affiliate faculty member's duties may include teaching assigned classes in person or online, preparing course materials and lesson plans, grading student work, providing students with robust feedback in a timely manner, addressing student questions consistent with university, college/school, and department policies, and providing online or in person academic support to students as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment.

Required qualifications include completion of a Master's degree in the field in which the faculty member is assigned to teach or a Bachelor's degree in a hospitality-related discipline plus professional experience that is current at the time of hire, that has been substantial in terms of duration and level of responsibility, and that clearly links to the field in which the faculty member is expected to teach.

Preferred qualifications include nationally recognized certificates and licenses relevant to the field in which the faculty member is assigned to teach.

Affiliate faculty are part-time, at-will employees hired to teach on a per credit hour basis for specific classes, usually on a semester-by-semester basis. Qualified candidates will be expected to teach in person/on campus upon hire. The final salary is based on the number of credit hours assigned at a rate determined by university policy. Rate of pay per credit hour assignment can be between $1209 - $1482.
