Temporary, Part-Time Affiliate Faculty
The School of Hospitality at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for temporary, part-time affiliate faculty teaching positions.
Responsibilities
- Teach 3+ credit hours. Subject areas may include, but are not limited to:
Basic Cooking Skills, International Cooking, and Food service Fundamentals - Will work and interact with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff
- Will demonstrate ability to effectively infuse technology into coursework
- Will be available for consultation with students
Required Qualifications
- Required qualifications for an adjunct/affiliate faculty member in SOH include: (a) completion of a master's degree in the field in which the faculty member is assigned to teach; or (b) an associate's degree or higher in a hospitality-related discipline plus professional experience that is current at the time of hire, that has been substantial in terms of duration and level of responsibility, and that clearly links to the field in which the faculty member is expected to teach.
- If the Master's degree is outside the field in which the faculty member is assigned to teach, there is an increased expectation of substantial professional work experience in the discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- Nationally recognized certificates and licenses relevant to the field in which the faculty member is assigned to teach. (e.g., CEC, FMP, etc.)
Terms of Employment
Affiliate faculty are part-time, at-will employees hired to teach on a per credit hour basis for specific classes, usually on a semester-by-semester basis. Affiliate faculty are not eligible for benefit coverage under the University's benefit program. All such teaching assignments are dependent on budget and enrollment.
Qualified candidates will be expected to teach in person/on campus upon hire.
Salary for Announcement
The final salary is based on the number of credit hours assigned at a rate determined by university policy. Rate of pay per credit hour assignment can be between $1209 - $1482
