Job Summary:
The Community College of Denver (CCD) is seeking qualified high school educators to serve as Concurrent Enrollment (CE) Instructors. This role is intended exclusively for educators employed by participating partner high schools or school districts who have been identified to teach CCD courses through the Concurrent Enrollment program.
As a CCD adjunct faculty member, CE Instructors deliver college-level coursework while fostering an inclusive learning environment. They provide high-quality college instruction to high school students while maintaining the same academic standards, learning outcomes, rigor, and assessment practices as courses taught on the CCD campus. Working in partnership with CCD department chairs, faculty, and CE staff, the CE instructors play a critical role in expanding access to higher education, promoting equitable student success, and preparing students for postsecondary education.
Concurrent Enrollment instructors are expected to uphold the College’s academic policies, instructional expectations, and commitment to student success while serving as ambassadors for CCD within their high school communities.
To offer concurrent enrollment classes, a high school must have a signed Cooperative Agreement with CCD. Applicants should check with their high school administration or contact the CCD High School Connections Office (highschoolconnections) before submitting an application.
Duties & Responsibilities:
This posting is intended exclusively for current high school instructors seeking approval to teach Concurrent Enrollment courses through the Community College of Denver. Applicants must be employed by a partnering high school or school district and have the support of their school administration to serve as a CE Instructor.
Concurrent Enrollment Instructors serve as adjunct faculty members of the Community College of Denver and are expected to meet the same instructional and academic standards as all CCD faculty.
Teaching
- Deliver instruction consistent with approved CCD curriculum
- Maintain academic rigor equivalent to on-campus sections
- Use approved course outcomes, syllabi, assessments, textbooks/materials
- Foster an engaging and inclusive learning environment that promotes belonging, equitable access, academic excellence, and student success
Student Success
- Support students in developing college-level skills
- Encourage persistence and academic success
Collaboration
- Work with department chairs, lead faculty, and CE staff for student success and course expectations
- Participate in curriculum updates
- Collaborate with high school administrators, counselors, and Concurrent Enrollment staff to support student success and program quality.
Compliance
- Maintain instructor qualifications
- Submit grades and appropriate forms according to college deadlines
Professional Development
- Participate in discipline-specific professional development in support of continuous improvement efforts
- Participate in faculty onboarding with the department chair
