Community College of Denver is seeking qualified adjunct instructors to teach Computer Science and Computer Information Systems courses, with a primary focus on programming, coding, and database courses such as Java, Python, C++, SQL, introductory programming, and related computer science topics. Courses may be offered in face-to-face, hybrid, remote, or online formats and may include daytime or evening sections based on departmental needs.
Duties & Responsibilities:- Teach assigned Computer Science and Computer Information Systems courses.
- Prepare and deliver course content, assignments, and assessments that support student learning.
- Maintain course materials, grades, and student records in D2L.
- Provide timely feedback and communication to students.
- Create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for a diverse community college student population.
- Follow department and college policies and participate in department communication or meetings as needed.
- Knowledge of programming concepts, database concepts, and one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, SQL, or related languages.
- Ability to explain coding, database, and technology concepts clearly to beginning and intermediate students.
- Ability to teach and support courses in programming, computer information systems, databases, SQL, and related computer science topics.
- Ability to support students with different levels of technical preparation.
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Commitment to inclusive teaching, student success, and working effectively with diverse students, faculty, instructors, and staff.
Associate degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Development, or a closely related field, and at least 4,000 hours of verified occupational experience in the field within the last seven years.
OR
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a closely related field, and at least 2,000 hours of verified occupational experience in the field within the last seven years.
Ability to teach programming or coding courses such as Java, Python, C++, introductory programming, or related computer science courses.
Preferred Qualifications:Education:
Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a closely related field.
Experience:Experience teaching programming, coding, or computer science courses.
Professional experience in software development, application development, data systems, cloud computing, cybersecurity, or related technology fields.
Experience using D2L or another learning management system.
Experience teaching in face-to-face, hybrid, remote, or online formats.
