Are you passionate about igniting curiosity, fostering innovation, and preparing students for the future of STEM? Join our team as a STEM Lab Teacher, where you will inspire middle school students to explore and apply STEM through hands-on projects and industry-aligned experiences.
As the STEM Lab Teacher, you will:
- Lead dynamic, project-based learning experiences that align with high school STEM pathways: biomedical science, engineering, computer science, and entrepreneurship.
- Collaborate with industry partners to design real-world challenges that connect students to cutting-edge careers and technologies.
- Collaborate with our high school teams to teach important, transferable skills that will help students transition seamlessly to their high school STEM courses.
- Cultivate a classroom culture of creativity, problem-solving, and excitement, empowering all students to develop a strong sense of possibility and identity in STEM.
- Foster an inclusive, collaborative environment where every student feels supported, thinks boldly, leads effectively, and fails fearlessly.
- Work closely with colleagues to align STEM Lab projects with broader school goals and pathways.

Key Responsibilities- Deliver Rigorous & Engaging Content:
Utilize DSST's curriculum resources to plan, intellectually prepare, and teach rigorous grade level aligned content to 3-5 classes daily depending on campus and content area. Responsible for ensuring instruction meets the needs of all learners in your classroom including exceptional learners and multilingual learners. DSST prioritizes curriculum that centers the cultures and histories of underrepresented and marginalized communities. - Collaborate to Support Student Success:
Work closely with Special Services and English Language Development colleagues to ensure that all students are provided with targeted support. Collaboratively design and implement strategies to promote academic progress for students with diverse learning needs, including exceptional learners and multilingual learners, ensuring that each student's unique strengths are nurtured. - Track and Support Student Growth:
Prioritize students' intellectual growth by holding high expectations for academic success including monitoring and assessing the performance of all students through a variety of assessment tools and resources to guide instruction and support individual student proficiency. - Promote Positive Culture:
Employ DSST culture and support systems while validating students' cultural identities. Actively promote a unified and positive classroom and school culture. Cultivate and maintain trusting relationships with students and families. - Pursue Professional Development:
Engage in professional growth opportunities, including regular coaching, feedback, and development, with a focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. - Contribute to School Community:
Undertake additional duties as needed, such as supporting student recruitment, running a small group advisory class, after school tutoring, etc. Explore more potential duties here.
