Position Summary
School of Hospitality at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for temporary, part‑time affiliate faculty teaching positions.
Responsibilities- Teach 3+ credit hours.
- Subject areas may include, but are not limited to:
Wine Fundamentals, Beer and Spirits, Enology:
The Making of Wine, Wines of the Old World, Wines of the New World, Wine and Food Pairing. - Work and interact with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff.
- Demonstrate ability to effectively infuse technology into coursework.
- Be available for student consultation.
- Prepare course materials and lesson plans, grade student work, provide robust feedback in a timely manner, address student questions, provide academic support, deliver instruction consistent with syllabus and learning objectives.
- Comply with university policies, including student evaluation of instruction and peer observation policies.
- Adapt and learn new modes of instruction; show sensitivity to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
- Completion of a Master’s degree in the field in which the faculty member is assigned to teach OR a Bachelor’s degree in a hospitality‑related discipline plus current professional experience substantial in duration and level of responsibility.
- Experience not less than ten consecutive years with increasing levels of responsibility and significant supervisory experience.
- If Master’s degree is outside the field, increased expectation of substantial professional work experience in the discipline.
- Nationally recognized certificates and licenses relevant to the field (e.g., various levels of Sommelier and/or Cicerone).
Affiliate faculty are part‑time, at‑will employees hired to teach on a per credit hour basis for specific classes, usually semester‑by‑semester. Not eligible for benefit coverage under the University’s benefit program. All teaching assignments are budget and enrollment dependent. Qualified candidates will be expected to teach in person/on campus upon hire.
SalaryThe final salary is based on the number of credit hours assigned at a rate determined by university policy. Rate per credit hour assignment can be between $1,209–$1,482.
