Founded in 1982, Anchor Center for Blind Children is a nationally recognized leader in early intervention and education for children who are blind or visually impaired. Located in Denver’s Central Park neighborhood, Anchor Center serves children from birth through age five and provides comprehensive support for their families.

Our purpose-built facility features adaptive lighting, acoustics, textures, and sensory gardens designed to support the unique learning needs of young children with visual impairments and additional disabilities. Through nurturing, play-based instruction, children develop foundational skills in communication, movement, independence, early literacy, and meaningful engagement with the world around them.

Anchor Center is seeking a passionate Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Teacher to join our collaborative, transdisciplinary team.

This position provides classroom leadership and developmentally appropriate, individualized instruction for preschool-aged children with visual impairments and additional disabilities. The ECSE Teacher partners closely with families and works alongside Teachers of the Visually Impaired, therapists, and classroom assistants to support each child’s growth and success.

Part-time and full-time schedules are available. The part-time position focuses on preschool programming, while the full-time position includes opportunities to support infant and toddler programming on Mondays and Fridays.

• Plan and lead developmentally appropriate preschool instruction for children with diverse learning needs.
• Create and maintain a welcoming, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Develop individualized learning experiences and adapt materials to meet each child’s needs.
• Establish consistent classroom routines, expectations, and positive behavior supports.
• Collaborate with families and transdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized educational plans.
• Conduct ongoing assessments, monitor progress, and complete required documentation and reports.
• Participate in IFSP, IEP, and transition meetings, as appropriate.
• Contribute to monthly themes, lesson planning, family education, and overall program development.
• Participate in ongoing professional learning related to early childhood education, disability, and visual impairment.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education or a related field.
• Early Childhood Teacher Qualified, or willing to obtain qualification.
• Minimum of two years of experience working with children from birth through age five.
• Experience supporting children with disabilities required; experience with blindness or visual impairment is preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with children, families, educators, therapists, and other professionals.
• Creativity and flexibility in developing engaging, sensory-based learning experiences.
• Commitment to inclusive, family-centered, and individualized educational practices.

$30–$45 per hour, depending on education and experience.

Part-Time: Preschool programming only. Benefits are not included.

Full-Time: Includes preschool programming with opportunities to support infant and toddler programming on Mondays and Fridays.
