Position Summary

The Department of Journalism and Media Production at Metropolitan State University of Denver invites applications for part‑time affiliate faculty teaching positions.

Responsibilities
  • Teach 3–9 credit hours in courses covering writing, video, and interactive media production at the 1000‑level or above.
  • Teach courses such as Basic Video Production, Introduction to Media Production, Basic Video Editing, Streaming Media Technologies, Critical Thinking Through 21st Century Media, and others.
  • Be available for student consultation.
  • Deliver assigned classes in person or online, prepare lesson plans, grade student work and provide timely feedback.
  • Address student questions in accordance with university policies and provide academic support as needed.
  • Provide instruction consistent with the syllabus and departmental course coordination policies.
  • Comply with university‑wide student evaluation and peer observation policies.
  • Adapt to new modes of instruction as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Media Production, Technical Communication, or a related field, plus five years of experience in the field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Media Production, Technical Communication, or a related field, and at least five years of professional full‑time experience in media production.
Terms of Employment

Affiliate faculty are part‑time, at‑will employees hired to teach on a per credit hour basis for specific classes, usually on a semester‑by‑semester basis. They are not eligible for benefit coverage under the University’s benefit program, and all assignments depend on budget and enrollment. Qualified candidates are expected to teach in person/on campus upon hire.

Salary

The final salary is based on credit hours assigned, at a rate of $1,264–$1,482 per credit hour.
