Position Summary

Part‑time affiliate faculty teaching positions in the Department of Music at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Faculty are invited to provide studio and/or classroom instruction, primarily in‑person, on a semester‑by‑semester basis.

Responsibilities
  • Provide studio or classroom instruction in music, teaching assigned classes in person or online.
  • Deliver course content, prepare lesson plans, grade student work, and provide timely feedback.
  • Address student questions consistent with university, college, and department policies.
  • Provide academic support to students as needed.
  • Deliver instruction consistent with the course syllabus and department coordination policies.
  • Comply with university‑wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.
  • Adapt and learn new modes of instruction; be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
Qualifications
  • Required:

    Master’s degree in Music or Bachelor’s degree plus significant local recognition.
  • Preferred: ABD or Master’s degree in Music plus significant local recognition.
Terms of Employment

Affiliate faculty are part‑time, at‑will employees hired to teach on a per credit hour basis for specific classes, usually semester‑by‑semester. They are not eligible for benefit coverage under the University’s benefit program and are dependent on budget and enrollment. Qualified candidates are expected to teach in person/on campus upon hire.

Salary

Pay per credit hour ranges between $1,264 and $1,482, with the final rate determined by university policy.

While affiliate faculty are not covered by the University benefit program, the University offers a comprehensive benefits package to eligible employees, including medical, vision, dental, free RTD pass, tuition reimbursement, life and supplemental insurance plans, retirement plans, and a long‑term disability plan.
