VALUES POSITION DESCRIPTION

S t. Anne’s Episcopal School has an opening for a long-term Substitute Teacher for our Design Thinking and Innovations program.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS

Teach the developmentally appropriate and innovative Middle School curriculum to grades 6-8 whose objectives are based on current national standards for computational thinking, coding, robotics, digital fabrication, physical computing, and digital citizenship.

Supervise and support the Vex Robotics Team that meets during Elective period.

Update Canvas course class pages, grades, and end-of-trimester comments.

Possibly serve as an advisor for 6th-grade advisory.

Fulfill other duties as assigned such as lunch, recess, and study hall supervision.

Teach with a focus on developing skills that encourage personal productivity, creativity, critical thinking, coding and collaboration in the classroom and in daily life.

Contribute to community-wide needs.

IDEAL

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in STEM or Elementary Education

3+ years of experience teaching elementary and/or middle school students; specifically in areas of design thinking, problem based learning, engineering design process, STEM/STEAM, robotics, computer science or technology

Flexible mindset and ability to bring innovative approaches to identifying and solving problems

Experience exploring and piloting new technologies

Creative and energetic teaching strategies and good classroom management skills

Strong initiative and organizational skills

Willingness to develop one's own knowledge and skills through professional development.

Ability to work and communicate effectively and efficiently with and within a culturally diverse student body, staff, and community.

A firm understanding of differentiated instruction, 21st century skills, 3D printing, coding, emerging technologies, Maker Spaces and project-based learning.

Strong references that convey your teaching abilities, connection with students, and mastery of computer science and technology

A love and enthusiasm for using technology and working with a computer
