About This Job

This position works primarily with Emily Griffith's CAREERS program, which supports refugees and immigrants who are seeking to begin a career pathway or re-enter or advance in their field. This position provides pathway navigation, academic advising, career coaching and resource referral services in the community and on campus. This position serves as the direct liaison between the workforce and community partners and assists with streamlining the process for students to transition between the college's Adult Education and English programs and Career and Technical Education programs and into the workforce.

Other professional responsibilities include recruiting new students/participants; coordinating with human services agencies; consulting with faculty, staff, and administrators on a variety of issues related to student success.

What You’ll Do
  • Support students/participants one-on-one to explore pathway options, set and manage short and long term education and employment goals, maintain and reinforce those goals ongoing, follow up strategies to remove barriers to meeting those goals, and provide access to internal and external supportive services.
  • Edit and target student/participant resumes and cover letters for desired experience (job, apprenticeship, etc). Prepare students/ for interviews, through workshops, written materials and/or one-on-one phone calls/meetings.
  • Coordinate with referring agencies and workforce system partners to create streamlined pipeline for students entering and exiting Emily Griffith and the workforce, including meeting students/participants in the community and hosting recruitment sessions at referring agency and workforce centers.
  • Coordinate with faculty and staff to improve the enrollment process for students/participants and help navigate students/participants through the enrollment process.
  • Attend partnership meetings with organizations concurrently serving students/participants such as resettlement agencies, government programs, and workforce partners.
  • Work collaboratively with Career Services to ensure seamless services to students/participants.
  • Work with Adult Education, English Language Acquisition (ELA), Career Technical Education (CTE), apprenticeship, and short-term training program advisors and instructors to ensure student success (including retention and completion) while in the program of choice.
  • Partner with community based organizations, other colleges, and training programs, making students/participant referrals as needed and in alignment with student/participant goals.
  • Support grant-related activities by aligning EGTC’s work plan with achieving grant goals, collecting data for grant reporting, meeting with funders, and collaborating on reports and applications.
  • Report on program outcomes and provide support for various grant requirements as needed/assigned.
What You’ll Need
  • Bachelor's Degree minimum required.
  • Master's degree in Counseling/Social Work, Higher Education, or related area preferred.
  • Strong preference for work experience in a multicultural and multilingual setting.
  • Experience with various industry and career trends is preferred.
