Position Overview

Graland Country Day School seeks an intelligent, energetic, flexible and dedicated educator who is interested in working with a lead childcare teacher to create a nurturing, engaging and organized classroom environment. The person must be cognizant of the variation of students’ cognitive, social and emotional needs and capable of responding appropriately to each student as an individual.

Reports to: Associate Head of Lower School and ECLC Director

Terms: Full-time, 8:30 am-4:30 pm, exempt, school year, starts immediately

Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for assisting lead teachers in the care and safety of up to ten (10) children; ensuring that children are always in a safe environment in accordance with Colorado Child Care Rules and Regulations.
  • Support the lead teacher in the planning and implementation of daily lesson plans, monthly calendars, classroom newsletters, and daily communications to families.
  • Support the lead teacher in maintaining age-appropriate, consistent classroom routines and daily schedules.
  • Assist in daily set-up and delivery of programs by organizing activities, snacks/meal service, diapering, cleaning/sanitizing, playground supervision, rest time, arrival and departure of children.
  • Use positive behavior reinforcement and developmentally appropriate guidance strategies to encourage appropriate behavior.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, children and faculty/staff.
  • Demonstrate responsible, nurturing and professional behavior always.
  • Seek out continued professional development opportunities.
  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining annual fifteen (15) hour professional development credentials as required for this position.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, training and site events as requested by the Director.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

Must be willing to meet appropriate Infant/Toddler Teacher requirements/qualifications and provide all documentation as required by the State of Colorado Department of Human Services upon hire.

Background and Training:
  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Psychology, Special Education OR an Associate’s degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education and six (6) months of verified experience working with children in a child development program.
  • Minimum of two (2) years training and/or experience working in a professional setting with children ages one to four (1-4).
Licenses, Certificates and Other Requirements:
  • Must be willing to meet appropriate Infant/Toddler Teacher requirements/qualifications and provide all documentation as required by the State of Colorado Department of Human Services upon hire.
  • Possess a current certification in CPR, First Aid and Universal Precautions.
  • Complete fifteen (15) hours required training annually.
  • Submit and pass criminal background check including Colorado Bureau of Investigations and TRAILS/Central Registry criminal record review as required by the Colorado Department of Social Services within five (5) working days of employment.
  • Provide all documentation as required by the State of Colorado Child Care Licensing Division upon hire.
  • Must be able to fulfill the role as a mandated reporter.
  • Provide a current and signed Child Care Provider Health Form.
  • Requires a current medical report.
