Stampede currently owns and operates more than 150 miles of crude gathering and transportation pipeline and over 175 miles of produced water gathering pipeline across more than one million combined dedicated acres. Stampede also operates a robust fresh water supply, storage, and distribution system, as well as the Ren Compressor Station and associated gas gathering and gas lift infrastructure in the northeastern DJ Basin.
Stampede currently transports more than 80,000 barrels of crude oil per day, 100,000 barrels of produced water per day, and gathers more than 75 MMcf of natural gas per day.
The Gas System Operator serves as a critical link between our field assets, customers, and operational teams, ensuring natural gas moves safely and efficiently through our midstream infrastructure. The decisions made in this role directly impact system reliability, regulatory compliance, asset utilization, and our ability to consistently meet customer and commercial commitments.

SummaryThe Gas System Operator is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of natural gas gathering, compression, transmission, and distribution systems. This position monitors system performance, controls gas flow and pressure, responds to operational issues, and ensures compliance with company procedures and applicable regulatory requirements. The Gas System Operator works closely with field operations, maintenance personnel, and engineering teams to optimize system performance and maintain uninterrupted service.
Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions- Monitor and control natural gas gathering, transmission, and distribution systems.
- Operate valves, regulators, compressors, meters, and associated equipment.
- Monitor gas flow rates, pressures, and volumes to maintain system integrity.
- Utilize SCADA and control systems to track operating conditions and identify abnormalities.
- Respond to alarms, system upsets, outages, leaks, and emergency situations.
- Coordinate planned outages, maintenance activities, and startup/shutdown procedures.
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities, pipelines, and equipment.
- Maintain accurate operational logs, reports, and regulatory records.
- Investigate operational issues and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company safety requirements.
- Support pipeline integrity, risk management, and emergency response programs.
- Coordinate with field technicians, contractors, and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Participate in on-call and after-hours response activities.

- High school diploma or GED.
- 3+ years of experience in natural gas operations, pipeline operations, compression, or related oil and gas roles.
- Working knowledge of gas system operations and safety procedures.
- Ability to read P&IDs, operating procedures, and technical manuals.
- Strong troubleshooting and decision‑making skills.
- Associate degree or technical certification in an energy‑related field.
- Experience with SCADA systems.
- Knowledge of DOT, PHMSA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Must be able to pass a pre‑employment background screening.
