Position: Real-Time Scheduler

Position Overview

Guzman Energy is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Real-Time Scheduler to execute power and transmission schedules across multiple energy markets. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring the timely, accurate, and compliant scheduling of generation resources, transmission reservations, and energy transactions in support of real-time trading operations.

The role is based in Denver and will work closely with our real-time traders, analysts, and broader trading team.

Key Responsibilities Real-Time Scheduling Operations
  • Submit accurate and timely power and transmission schedules in ISO/RTO and Transmission Provider systems (e.g., CAISO, WECC, SPPISO, ERCOT)
  • Monitor real-time transmission positions, wind forecasts, and market obligations to optimize scheduling and redirect strategies
  • Manage and update OASIS transmission reservations, including redirects and trans-assignments
  • Coordinate closely with Real-Time Traders to monitor scheduling parameters and resolve any alarms or irregularities
  • Record all transactions in the appropriate deal capture and scheduling systems
Coordination & Market Support
  • Collaborate with analysts to develop tools that support wind forecast tracking, outage analysis, and transmission planning
  • Provide accurate and timely support for real-time energy and capacity transactions, ensuring compliance with NERC protocols
  • Assist with internal reporting on transmission usage and participate in ad hoc analysis or assignments as needed
Shift & Operations Management
  • Work rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as part of a 24/7 real-time operations team
  • Respond effectively to system alarms and take corrective actions based on established procedures
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of scheduling processes, tools, and compliance tracking
  • 1+ years of experience in the energy industry related to energy dispatch, scheduling, or trading operations; recent graduates with technical or analytical backgrounds will be considered
  • Ability and willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including overnights, weekends, and holidays
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a time-sensitive environment
  • Strong attention to detail and self-discipline in maintaining data accuracy and compliance
  • Effective communicator and team player who thrives in collaborative, open-floor environments
  • Goal-oriented with a focus on accuracy and timely execution
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree specifically in Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field
  • Market Knowledge: Familiarity with ISO/RTO markets such as CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, PJM, NYISO, and/or ISO-NE
  • Tools & Systems: Experience with industry software including OATI Web Trader, webSmartOASIS, and webSmart Tag
  • Certifications: NERC and/or PJM certification
