The intern will support the Customer Energy and Transportation Solutions (CETS) team by contributing to solar data analytics, program performance evaluation, and demand response analysis efforts. In this role, the intern will also assist with product management initiatives related to Distributed Energy Resources, gaining exposure to portfolio strategy and operational decision-making. The position is embedded within a cross‑functional team focused on clean energy solutions, including rooftop solar, battery storage, smart thermostats, and HVAC demand management.
This internship is based in Denver, Colorado, where the intern will collaborate with team members to advance innovative energy programs and enhance customer‑focused outcomes.
Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Solar data analytics
- Program performance
- Demand response analysis
- Product management with Distributed Energy Resources
This position is for a May 31, 2027 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship’s initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel Energy’s business needs.
Minimum Requirements- Current student, Junior or higher (as of Fall 2027)
- Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Renewable, Envinronmental, Data, Business
- Able to work full‑time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in‑person, per our hybrid work policy.
- Interested in Power (kW) , Energy (kWh), Renewables, and Demand Response.
- The intern must have average or advanced Excel skills (XLookUp, Pivot Tables, Forecasting)

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $20.90 per hour
