About the position
Portfolio Managers work closely with customers, technicians, equipment manufacturers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities, support system availability, and ensure contractual obligations are fulfilled. This role combines customer communication, service operations, scheduling, technical coordination, and work order management.
Successful candidates are organized, proactive communicators who enjoy solving problems, managing competing priorities, and working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
A background in solar PV, electrical systems, technical support, service operations, account management, dispatch coordination, or customer service is beneficial but not required. Candidates with strong communication skills, technical aptitude, and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
Portfolio Manager I
Core Responsibilities:
Customer Portfolio Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for an assigned portfolio of commercial, industrial, and utility-scale solar customers.
- Coordinate customer requests from initial intake through work order completion.
- Communicate service schedules, findings, recommendations, and project updates to customers.
- Review service agreements to determine contractual service obligations and coverage.
- Set clear expectations regarding service timelines, next steps, and follow-up activities.
Service Coordination & Work Order Management
- Perform initial triage of customer requests, monitoring alerts, and reported system issues.
- Create, manage, and track work orders within company systems.
- Gather information necessary to support efficient troubleshooting and field response activities.
- Coordinate service activities with technicians and other Portfolio Managers.
- Assist in prioritizing service requests and operational response activities.
- Review completed work orders and technician documentation for completeness and quality.
- Ensure documentation is sufficient to support customer communication and invoicing.
- Coordinate follow-up actions resulting from technician findings and customer requests.
Preventive Maintenance Planning
- Plan, schedule, and track preventive maintenance activities for assigned customer portfolios.
- Ensure contractual maintenance obligations are completed on time.
- Coordinate site access and outage requirements as needed.
- Track maintenance-related findings, deficiencies, and corrective actions through resolution.
Corrective Maintenance, Warranty & RMA Coordination
- Coordinate corrective maintenance activities identified through monitoring, inspections, and customer requests.
- Prepare quotes for routine corrective maintenance activities.
- Support warranty claim and RMA processes.
- Track replacement equipment and coordinate installation once materials are received.
- Coordinate with manufacturers, vendors, subcontractors, and customers as needed to support repair activities.
Service Operations Support
- Maintain accurate customer, site, and asset records within company CRM and CMMS platforms.
- Verify customer site information, access requirements, and operational constraints are current.
- Coordinate with utilities, manufacturers, subcontractors, and customer facility personnel as required.
- Participate in a rotating Manager-on-Duty schedule supporting scheduling, emergency dispatch decisions, and operational coordination.
- Support emergency response activities and customer escalations when necessary.
Safety
- Support a strong safety culture by communicating known hazards and operational requirements prior to dispatch.
- Stop or defer work when safety concerns are identified.
- Escalate safety concerns, incidents, and operational risks promptly.
