This role is part of the Emerging Systems Business Unit, which will shape the future of our in-space infrastructure capabilities.

This position is part of Blue Origin’s Tera Wave business unit, a newly announced satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. Tera Wave consists of 5,408 optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise‑grade connectivity for critical operations.

• The development, management, and maintenance of system and subsystem requirements for the Tera Wave satellite communications network
• Establish and implement verification and validation methodologies to ensure Tera Wave’s 6 Tbps communications capabilities meet all performance requirements
• Develop and maintain requirements traceability matrices to ensure complete coverage of system specifications
• Create and execute verification and validation plans for satellite communications systems, including test procedures and acceptance criteria
• Coordinate cross‑functional verification activities with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams
• Perform requirements analysis to ensure proper flow‑down from system to subsystem levels
• Manage interface definitions and requirements between Tera Wave’s LEO and MEO satellite constellations
• Support design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and milestone reviews with clear verification evidence
• Develop verification closure documentation and validation notices for internal and external stakeholders
• Identify and mitigate technical risks related to requirements implementation and verification
• Collaborate with specialty engineering disciplines to ensure comprehensive verification of all system aspects
• Establish and maintain verification environments and tools for efficient testing and validation
• Support integration and test activities to verify system performance against requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
• 3+ years of experience in systems engineering with focus on requirements development, verification, and validation
• Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Jama)
• Knowledge of systems engineering processes, including requirements analysis, interface definition, and verification planning
• Experience with satellite communications systems or related aerospace/defense systems
• Demonstrated ability to procedures
• Proficiency in technical documentation and communication

• Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
• Experience with satellite communications networks, RF systems, or optical communications
• Knowledge of space-based communications architectures and protocols
• Experience with model‑based systems engineering tools and methodologies
• Familiarity with optical inter‑satellite links and related technologies
• Experience with high‑throughput satellite systems
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements for satellite communications systems
• Experience with agile development methodologies in a systems engineering context
• Experience with hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing for space systems
