If so, Food Service Holdings (FSH) is looking for a Design Engineer to join our Custom Engineering team.
Why This Role MattersAs a Design Engineer at FSH, you are a critical link between sales, project management, and production
. Your drawings directly impact manufacturability, quality, timelines, and customer satisfaction. You will take complex food service concepts and translate them into precise, production-ready designs used to fabricate high-end custom counters, food shields, and integrated systems for commercial environments.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where accuracy, organization, and collaboration are essential.
What You’ll Do- Create detailed design drawings using Pro-E (or similar 3D CAD software) based on architectural drawings, specifications, and customer requirements
- Design custom countertops, food shields, buy-outs, and integrated systems including heat, lighting, electrical, refrigeration, finishes, and tolerances
- Interpret and process redlines from Project Management and customers with speed and precision
- Prioritize work using engineering schedules to meet submittal, revision, and sales drawing deadlines
- Ensure designs align with FSH construction standards, manufacturing capabilities, and NSF/UL requirements
- Partner closely with Project Management, Sales, and Production to ensure successful execution
- Communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams and external clients
- Proactively flag risks, delays, or design challenges and recommend solutions
- Support Custom Engineering workload as needed to maintain team throughput
- Independently resolve design challenges while knowing when to escalate complex issues
- Contribute ideas for process improvement and participate in implementation
- Support New Product Development by evaluating manufacturability, cost, and functionality when assigned
- Participate in team initiatives and special projects
- High School diploma or GED with 3–4 years of hands-on experience in engineering, fabrication, construction, mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing environments
- OR
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with 1–2 years of relevant experience
- Strong working knowledge of 3D CAD software (Pro-E preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Solid understanding of manufacturing, metal fabrication, sheet metal design, and production workflows
- Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail
- 2–3 years of experience using Pro-E or similar 3D modeling tools
- Familiarity with food service products, NSF, UL, and Bluebeam
- Professional office environment with close collaboration across departments
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working on detailed design tasks
