GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Design Engineer is responsible for executing the design and detailing for the engineering function of our work utilizing the proper use and detailing of Prestressed/Precast concrete structures and governing PCI Standards. Preparation, coordination, and communication of project information and project details for assigned projects shall be in accordance with agreed procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparation of required designs and details for assigned projects, with consideration of:
- Structural integrity, production safety, economical production with consideration of handling, transportation, and installation procedures.
- Design assumptions, procedures, analysis, and results based on company standards and procedures, with consolidated results presented in the calculation package.
- Connection design assumptions, procedures, analysis, and results based on company standards and procedures, with consolidated results presented in the calculation package.
- Consideration of budget for materials, labor, and sequence, which may require solicitation of plant and field personnel to ensure the best and final design concept is chosen.
- Preparation and consolidation of calculations for submission and review by others.
- Ensure that design and details are prepared and transferred to the design team or Project Manager in a clear and timely manner, with minimum supervision.
- Assist in management of projects with consideration of budget and schedule.
- Review plans, details, and specifications, provide interpretation, identify deficiencies, and assist with resolution.
- Ensure accuracy of work and adherence to company standards and procedures.
- Follow the direction of superiors with questions and research in order to learn.
- Provide technical assistance to other departments as required.
- Be informed of current developments within the company and the industry and be vigilant in finding new ways to improve efficiency and economy.
- Pursue professional development whenever possible.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
- Carry out assigned tasks with a professional demeanor reflected in excellent written and oral communication skills, listening skills, patience, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Display calm and a customer-oriented attitude in fast-paced and sometimes stressful conditions and represent the Company in a professional manner.
- Ability to meet timelines, milestones, deliverables and provide timely status updates as identified.
- Communicate technical information verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical users.
COMPENSATION
PAY: $60,000 – $70,000 Depending on:
- Experience
- FE exam
- Graduate Studies
- Classes taken
- Other work experience
