About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer I to join our growing team. This role is ideal for professionals who thrive in a startup environment and are passionate about building next-generation power electronics for spacecraft, satellites, and airborne systems.
As a Senior Engineer, you will take ownership of full-stack development—from concept through delivery. You’ll work hands-on at every stage of the product lifecycle: architecture definition, detailed design, board layout, testing, system integration, and manufacturing support. You will play a direct role in shaping high-reliability hardware used in mission-critical applications across the aerospace sector.
This position offers a high-impact opportunity, where your contributions will directly influence product success. The work is challenging, requiring both deep technical expertise and cross-functional collaboration. You will also be expected to present your designs to executive stakeholders and customers—strong communication skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end design of power converters, power management systems, and control circuitry from concept to production.
- Perform schematic design and independent PCB layout (or collaborate with drafters) using tools like Altium Designer.
- Conduct detailed modeling and analysis including:
- Worst-case circuit analysis
- Small signal/stability analysis
- Power loss and thermal efficiency
- Power integrity and stress analysis
- Develop test plans for verification, qualification, and production acceptance.
- Perform hands-on bring-up and testing of analog and power modules, in collaboration with technicians or junior engineers.
- Partner with cross-disciplinary teams during system integration, qualification campaigns, and production handoff.
- Mentor junior engineers and support their professional and technical development.
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. or higher in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- 4+ years of professional or research experience in board-level power electronics design, analysis, and testing.
- Proven experience owning circuit/board design including trade studies, component selection, and detailed implementation.
- Proficiency with PCB layout and related tools.
- Experience with simulation and analysis software (e.g., SPICE, LTSPICE, SIMetrix/SIMPLIS, PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink, MathCAD).
- Strong lab-based testing and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Preferred Experience
- Previous delivery of power subsystem or board-level designs to production and deployment.
- Familiarity with PCB design software like Altium, OrCAD/Allegro, PADS/Xpedition.
- Experience with board-level power integrity tools (e.g., Ansys SiWave, Hyper Lynx, ADS SIPro).
- Background in high-reliability electronics for space, defense, or automotive applications—familiarity with derating, worst-case analysis, and thermal design.
