Job Description
The E&C Engineer I will support a regional energy supply projects group, helping manage capital projects across multiple power generation facilities. Although the formal title is “E&C Engineer,” the role functions largely as a project engineer/project manager, overseeing a wide range of emergent and base capital projects while collaborating closely with internal operations, reliability engineering teams, and external vendors.
This position requires an engineering background combined with strong project leadership skills. The engineer may manage up to 20 small projects simultaneously, while also supporting larger capital initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Manage emergent, base, and major capital projects from conception through completion
- Develop scopes of work, technical specifications, project plans, budgets, and justification packages
- Support reliability engineering by preparing emergent capital requests and pushing them through internal approval processes
- Oversee contractors and external engineering firms as needed
- Coordinate equipment procurement, quotes, bids, delivery, and installation
- Regularly collaborate with operations and reliability engineering to understand plant systems and upcoming needs
- Participate in daily POD (planning/operations discussion) meetings
- Complete all administrative project documentation and reporting
- Onsite collaboration with operations and reliability teams
- Reviewing plant system needs and planning future project work
- Supervising contractors and ensuring safe, effective project execution
- Managing daily project logistics and documentation
- Participating in internal morning coordination meetings
- Work alongside a team of ~20 engineers available for support and mentoring
- Highly collaborative environment: although technically an individual-contributor role, the position leads cross-functional groups, contractors, and vendors
- Strong interpersonal skills required for building relationships across departments
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, civil, or related discipline)
- 2+ years of experience in engineering or plant/manufacturing environments
- Strong project management experience: planning, charters, budgeting, scope development (“cradle to grave”)
- Experience managing contractors
- Ability to multi-task and manage numerous projects simultaneously without sacrificing quality
- Strong initiative, communication, and teamwork skills
- Experience in power plant or similar industrial environments
- FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) exam completed or willingness to pursue it
- Familiarity with project documentation tools such as Project Wise (no CAD required)
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, SharePoint, and Excel
