Job Summary

The BKV Land department is seeking a dynamic individual to help drive and coordinate Land’s efforts in support of the company’s dCarbon Ventures business unit and initiatives. The Land Manager – dCarbon Ventures will work closely with the dCarbon and Land teams in acquiring, siting and maintaining land assets for the development of carbon capture and sequestration projects and other accretive use cases.

This individual will both personally drive and oversee efforts to grow BKV’s position in this growing field. The role will be focused on negotiation, acquisition, project management, data review and analysis, document preparation, and numerous unique needs as they arise. This role is recognized as a subject matter expert in the work area. It manages large projects or processes, policies and standards under limited supervision, coaches, reviews, and delegates work to junior employees.

Problems faced may be difficult and often complex. Demonstrates integrity, accountability and transparency; upholds BKV standards, values and culture.

Responsibilities
  • Operate as key point of contact between dCarbon and Land teams on all dCarbon projects
  • Assess land resourcing needs for each dCarbon project, prepare and propose budgets and resourcing plans for review and approval by Sr. Director of Land
  • Develop and execute land and ROW acquisition and siting strategy on all carbon sequestration projects
  • Build and maintain relationships, including negotiation, with key counterparts including emission sources, landowners, and area individuals of influence
  • Manage and drive land and broker teams with both internal and external support in execution of acquisition strategies
  • Oversee and drive the acquisition of all necessary pipeline ROW, easements, utility, water, and other ancillary rights required for dCarbon projects
  • Track project progress and key benchmarking with regular updates to Land and company leadership
  • Assess major project variables, perform risk assessments, and communicate risks and mitigations to Land, dCarbon and BKV leadership
  • Contribute to overall BKV dCarbon strategy and execution process, including technology selection, team and project structure, and areas of interest
  • Close coordination across business units at BKV as projects require
  • Work closely with Land Administration and other functions on data and document organization
  • Provide support to additional business units within BKV, including upstream, midstream, Power and M&A activity as bandwidth and need allows
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
Required Skills
  • Understanding of natural gas industry standards, market trends, emerging issues, and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in document and data management and oil and gas title
  • Leadership skills including an advanced ability to work cross‑departmentally, develop others, and influence the organization to achieve results
  • Proficient in Excel, GIS tools, PowerPoint, or Smartsheet required
  • Knowledge of other business intelligence tools for dashboards, querying, visualization, etc. is a plus
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in land negotiation or similar experience in the oil and gas industry, real estate or natural resources
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
  • This position can be located at the BKV Headquarters in Denver, CO
  • Remote and hybrid work will be considered
  • Some travel up to 20% may be required

  • Office‑based environment with collaborative work spaces; may occasionally be exposed to moderate noise levels
