We are supporting a fast-growing US space technology company building advanced satellite communication and mission systems across commercial and government programs.
They are hiring a Principal Spacecraft Systems Engineer II to lead mission-level Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) across full lifecycle satellite programs. This is a senior, hands‑on leadership role with real ownership over mission definition, delivery, and technical execution.
The roleYou will lead and mentor a multidisciplinary SEIT team responsible for end‑to‑end mission capability across space, ground, launch, and operations. Working closely with program management and responsible engineering leadership, you will ensure missions deliver on performance, cost, and schedule.
Key responsibilities include:- Owning mission-level requirements, CONOPS, interfaces, and verification strategy
- Leading integration, test planning, and V&V execution
- Driving trade studies, system budgets, and technical decision making
- Managing risk, change control, and technical performance metrics
- Acting as a senior technical interface with customers and internal stakeholders
- Guiding teams through AI&T, launch readiness, and early operations
- 11+ years engineering experience, including 8+ years in satellite mission or spacecraft systems engineering
- Proven experience leading cross-functional engineering teams
- Strong background in requirements management, V&V planning, and system test
- Experience working across multi-segment systems (space, ground, ops, launch)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to operate comfortably in a fast-paced, program-driven environment
- RF communications or payload experience
- Experience with government or defense customers
- Background in system architecture or proposal support
