We are seeking an exceptionally diverse and driven technical expert to manage the engineering and design of our fleet of mobile production units. This multifaceted role demands deep expertise across broadcast engineering disciplines, physical facility construction, systems integration, and team management. The successful candidate will ensure all systems operate at peak performance, and solve complex technical and logistical challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Signal Transport Expertise:
Extensive knowledge of all major video and audio signal formats, including analog, digital (SD/HD/3G/12G-SDI, 4K), and IP workflows (SMPTE ST2110, ST2022-7, SRT encoding/decoding). - Audio & Timing:
Proficiency in audio signal transport (AES, MADI, DANTE, embedded audio) and broadcast reference formats (Black Burst, Tri-Level Sync, Word Clock, PTP, GPS timing). - Networking & Infrastructure:
Knowledge of broadcast Ethernet data systems, network switches, KVM routers, Tally systems, GPIO, and digital intercom infrastructure. - Vendor & Equipment Knowledge:
Familiarity with key broadcast television vendors and equipment manufacturers (Evertz, GVG, EVS, SONY, CALREC etc.). - Cabling & Patching:
Extensive knowledge of broadcast/network cabling, cable management, labeling standards, and physical patch panels (video, audio, data).
- CAD & Design:
Working knowledge of AutoCAD LT for facility and rack layout design (1.75” broadcast standard). - Data Management:
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets for managing large databases. - Google Workspace:
Proficiency with Google Apps including Docs, Gmail, Calendar, Contacts, and Groups.
- Leadership:
Basic HR skills for managing on-site employees, including task assignments and time-off tracking (PTO, sick time, holidays). - Communication:
Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate complex technical details clearly to clients, vendors, and team members. - Customer Service:
Proven ability to manage relationships effectively both as a vendor and a customer.
- Carpentry / cabinet maker skills including but not limited to cabinet / fixture design and fabrication. Hardwood and plywood / MDF construction of cabinets and fixtures. Counter top design and fabrication, including plastic laminates. Basic framing skills (wood and steel studs) . Stair design and fabrication. Ergonomic design knowledge.
- Metalwork:
Basic steel and aluminum fabrication and welding skills. - Electrical & HVAC:
Knowledge of low and high voltage electrical systems (12V LED lighting, 240V 3-phase transformers/load centers). Familiarity with large cabinet-style and Mini-Split HVAC units. - Vehicle Systems:
Knowledge of commercial freight trailer design, operation, suspension, and air brake systems - Basic HR skills. Ability to manage on site employees (task assignments, PTO vacation and sick time, holidays)
- Experience as System Integration engineer at On Air broadcast level facilities.
- Past broadcast mobile unit EIC experience. Also helpful to have operating knowledge of A1, Video Shading, camera operator, replay operator, graphics positions in a mobile unit.
