Are you a seasoned Structural Engineer with a passion for uncovering the root causes of structural failures and delivering expert assessments? We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team in the greater Denver area, specializing in forensic engineering, structural damage assessment, and failure analysis across commercial, residential, and industrial buildings. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in determining causes of structural failure, storm and roof damage assessments, building envelope investigations, and evaluating structural collapses.
A Professional Engineer (PE) license in your state of residence is required. Preference is given to candidates residing in the greater Denver area. Colorado PE license required.
To be responsible for profitably, ethically and scientifically investigating events, systems, devices and/or failures and providing expert opinions; to provide guidance and leadership on complex engineering assignments.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Provides guidance and leadership to newer colleagues on complex engineering assignments.
- Surveys property, casualty and liability losses, typically at residential and commercial buildings and loss scenes.
- Conducts investigations to determine the root cause of events and failures.
- Works with engineers and investigators to produce detailed reports and to outline the cause and origin of losses and damages.
- Develops plans, reports and drawings to meet client needs and determine the failure analysis and causation of failures.
- Provides expert testimony in court or depositions.
- Determines applicable engineering practices to fulfill the scope of work, timelines and cost estimates for professional services.
- Documents and maintains billable hours on a time-and-expense basis for failure analysis and engineering projects.
- Collaborates with sales and operations managers, architects, developers, insurance adjusters, claims managers and attorneys to develop demand for professional services.
- Collaborates with UIS’s national team of forensic experts to leverage experiences on projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Supports the organization’s quality programs.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. Professional Engineer (PE) license is required. Expert witness testimony is a plus.
ExperienceEight (8) years of experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education, including two (2) years in engineering specifically in failure analysis and forensic engineering, plus two (2) years in insurance and/or risk management services.
