Position: Staff Analysis Engineer

Description

Agile Space Industries is a rapidly growing supplier of propulsion hardware and engineering services for the space industry. Headquartered in Durango, Colorado, with expanding operations in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, and Tulsa, Oklahoma, Agile has achieved more than 40% year-over-year growth for the past three years, and our momentum continues to accelerate.

At Agile, we design, build, and test in-space propulsion systems that give spacecraft the ability to maneuver with precision, reliability, and purpose. Our technologies play a critical role in missions that range from lunar landings and resource utilization to national defense, human exploration, and commercial space transport.

We are seeking bold and driven individuals who thrive in a hands‑on, fast‑moving environment and want to help write the next chapter of space history as part of a close‑knit, innovative team.

Agile is seeking an experienced remote Staff Analysis Engineer who will need to solve highly complex technical aerospace and mechanical engineering problems. This engineer will have ownership for predicting the performance and reliability of Agiles’s products by applying computational analysis and mathematical modeling.

The ideal candidate for this role will have deep technical experience in spacecraft propulsion systems to perform in‑depth thermal and fluid analysis of Agile’s products, provide design feedback to propulsion engineers, interpret hot‑fire test data and iterate to improve model accuracy, and provide technical guidance to junior engineers on computational analysis techniques.

Agile follows a fast‑paced culture and the ideal candidate will have the opportunity for growth and increased sphere of influence as a technical leader. Critical skillsets being sought after are expertise in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, system level modeling, finite element analysis, computational fluid dynamics, radiation and conjugate heat transfer modeling.

This role can be onsite or remote, and we are currently accepting candidates residing in Colorado, Pennsylvania, Florida, Washington, Utah, Iowa, and Oklahoma. You MUST live and work from one of these states to work remotely for Agile Space Industries.

Responsibilities
  • Independently perform detailed fluid and thermal analyses of chemical rocket propulsion devices and systems
  • Determine requirements and thermal environments of operation of Agile’s propulsion devices and systems. Apply these to thermal models to predict performance and operational margins
  • Understand and apply the radiation environment encountered in space to characterize differences in performance parameters when compared to measurements within the test cell
  • Perform system level modeling and analysis of propulsion systems
  • Perform internal flow modeling and conjugate heat transfer of propulsion components and systems
  • Lead initiatives to improve the current state of computational modeling capabilities at Agile
  • Analyze test data to anchor and improve models. Propose design and/or process changes based on analysis and test data interpretation
  • Utilize Solidworks CAD, ANSYS analysis tools, and Python programming
  • Prepare formal presentations and reports for customer communication and gated product development reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.)
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and analysts
  • Establish standard thermal modeling practices for each product line
Requirements
  • M.S. or higher degree in related engineering or technical field. Equivalent professional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 12+ Years of experience working on computational analysis of components and systems
  • Strong experience with detailed thermal analysis of components and assemblies including but not limited to radiation modeling in space, conjugate heat transfer, system level heat transfer and fluid modeling, finite element based thermal modeling, multi‑phase flows, and computational fluid dynamics
  • Deep understanding of fuel film cooling and regenerative cooling in bipropellant engines as well as thermal/chemical decomposition in monopropellant engines
  • Expertise in ANSYS simulation software and Thermal Desktop
  • Background in…
