Space is moving from exploration to infrastructure.
Our client is building the first reusable satellite platform with controlled return capability, transforming space from a one-way mission into a two-way transportation layer for manufacturing, research, and logistics.
They are now hiring a Ground Software Engineer to architect and build the mission control systems that will command and operate autonomous spacecraft.
This role sits at the heart of mission operations. You will design and develop the digital backbone that enables reliable command, telemetry, automation, and on-orbit troubleshooting.
What you’ll be doing :- Designing and building mission control systems, including command, telemetry, and automation
- Developing command routing, telemetry acquisition, processing pipelines, and visualization systems
- Building integrated test and simulation systems alongside flight software
- Creating operational automation tools to streamline satellite operations
- Supporting commissioning and live on-orbit missions
- Collaborating closely with flight software, GNC, RF, and mission operations teams
- 5+ years developing software for spacecraft operations, mission control, or ground systems
- Strong backend development experience in Python, C++, or Go
- Experience with Sat Ops platforms and mission workflows
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, UDP, and networking fundamentals
- Experience with relational or time-series databases such as Postgre
SQL, Influx
DB, or Prometheus - Familiarity integrating with ground station providers such as KSAT or Atlas
- Cloud platform experience, ideally AWS
- CI/CD, version control, and automated testing experience
- Experience processing and visualising spacecraft telemetry streams
- Knowledge of CCSDS protocols
- Exposure to RF communications or ground station hardware
- Work on genuinely pioneering reusable satellite technology
- Build infrastructure that enables new space-based industries
