Position DescriptionCLP Engineering (CLPE) is seeking a Senior Electrical Tester to join our Testing Team to perform mid/entry level inspections, testing, and maintaining electrical power equipment. Seeking a candidate with 5+ years of experience who is available for up to 75% travel. Due to the nature of our work as a Federal Contractor, candidates must be a US Citizen.
The Senior Electrical Tester will inspect, test, and maintain High, Medium, and Low electrical power equipment. Testers will work with electrical equipment, such as SF6 & vacuum circuit breakers, pad mount transformers/GSU transformers, grounding, instrument transformers, and variance of switches both manual and motor operated.
Colorado-based is preferred; however the Electrical Tester position can be located at other CLP Engineering locations, or remote in a state where CLP Engineering is registered.
Key Responsibilities- Create plans for testing apparatus.
- Understand the theory behind and reason for testing with the ability to analyze results.
- Instrument transformer tests such as CT’s/PT’s/CCVT’s/MU’s.
- Power transformer testing – Power Factor, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.
- Cable testing – VLF/TD/PD.
- Automatic transfer switch testing & troubleshooting.
- Low, Medium and High voltage switch gear, SF6 and vacuum circuit breaker testing.
- Moderately complex relay calibration and power metering.
- Ability to perform complex troubleshooting.
- Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel in order to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems and determine optimum equipment functioning.
- Prepare and maintain reports detailing all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed.
- Knowledge and understanding of practical application of electrical theory and hazards in order to perform the job requirements successfully and safely.
- Interact positively with customers.

Skills | Knowledge | Experience- Associate or Bachelor Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology or related field, or previous military experience preferred.
- Minimum of five (5+) years of relevant testing experience with:
- Prescence of Voltage Verification
- Contact Resistance
- Insulation Resistance
- Test Equipment Set Up
- One-line Drawings
- Previous NETA or NICET Level III or IV certification desired, or equivalent level of professional experience.
- Must have good PC skills including email, internet, data entry and Microsoft Excel.
Experience with Power
DB a plus. - Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
- Prefer OSHA 10 or 30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training.
